The 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place this Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Qualifying has already wrapped up, with Alex Palou securing his second career Indy 500 pole position. The full field is now set as teams make their final preparations for the biggest race of the year, and for some teams, that means preparing backup cars. That’s the case for the No. 5 and No. 20 teams following Monday’s practice crash.

The status of Alexander Rossi and his availability for Sunday’s race remains uncertain. Rossi sustained minor injuries in the practice crash and immediately underwent surgery in hopes of being cleared to compete. The latest update is that Rossi and Ed Carpenter Racing plan to participate in Friday’s final practice session.

What to watch for on race day:

-How will the weather cooperate, with rain currently in the forecast for Sunday?

-Can Alex Palou become just the seventh driver to win back-to-back Indianapolis 500s?

-Can Pato O’Ward finally break through and capture his first Indy 500 victory?

-How will the rookies handle the historic 2.5-mile oval?

-Will the exclusive five-time Indy 500 winner club finally gain another member, with Helio Castroneves starting 14th on the grid?

Something to watch:

Katherine Legge will attempt to become the first woman to complete the infamous “Double,” competing in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. She will drive the No. 11 HMD Motorsports with AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet this weekend.
