Busch Dominates Dover!

This felt like a vintage Kyle Busch performance. Busch started on the pole, swept both stages, and led 147 of the 200 laps on his way to a dominant victory at Dover.

A notable point from today’s race: there were three women in the Truck Series field, Natalie Decker, Dystany Spurlock, and Toni Breidinger, all of whom competed in today’s event.

Stage 1

Stage 1 stayed green until five laps to go, when Spurlock (#69) lost control and crashed on the backstretch. The caution set up a one-lap dash to the stage finish, where Kyle Busch (#7) held off Ty Majeski (#88), and Butcher (#13) to take the stage win. Butcher stayed out during the caution to gain valuable stage points.

Stage 2

Stage 2 ran caution-free, although there were still a few close calls. On the restart, Busch cleared himself quickly and looked ready to drive away, but Ross Chastain kept the pressure on throughout the run. Butcher later slapped the wall in Turn 1 but managed to make it back to pit road without bringing out a caution.

In the closing laps of the stage, Chastain charged hard through lap traffic, but Busch held him off to complete the stage sweep.

Final Stage

Chastain led the field to green for the final 100 laps, and he and Busch quickly separated themselves from the rest of the field. Their battle was interrupted when Baldwin (#2) destroyed his truck in Turn 4, bringing out a caution. Most of the field pitted, but Chastain stayed out to maintain track position.

The race restarted with 75 laps to go, but another caution quickly followed when Tyrrell (#14) spun while battling Bowyer (#25). From there, the race went green for the final 66 laps.

Busch eventually powered past Chastain, whose older tires couldn’t hold him off for long. Once Busch retook the lead, he never looked back, driving away to win by more than three seconds over Ty Majeski.

The victory marks Busch’s second Truck Series win of the season after previously winning at Atlanta earlier this year.
