It’s another Sprint weekend as Formula 1 heads to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the Canadian Grand Prix!

After a three-week break, teams have had extra time to dive deeper into development as they continue to adjust to the updated regulations and find more performance in their cars.
Mercedes still appears to hold the upper hand, but McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull are beginning to close the gap. McLaren has shown particularly promising pace recently, with Lando Norris battling the Mercedes drivers head-to-head and even taking victory in the Miami Sprint.
In the championship standings, Kimi Antonelli holds a 20-point advantage over teammate George Russell. Antonelli has won three races in a row, while Russell has managed just one podium finish during that same stretch.
Russell’s track record in Canada has been impressive, however, with two podium finishes at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, including a dominant victory last season. In that race, Antonelli secured his first career podium after the McLaren duo collided while battling for position behind.
What to watch for this weekend
-As the FIA continues tweaking the regulations, how will teams adapt with only one practice session before jumping straight into Sprint Qualifying?
-How much closer have the teams gotten to Mercedes in the development race?
-Can Ferrari finally capitalize on their strong race starts and control a Grand Prix from the front?
