A tricky qualifying session shuffled the championship contenders as all three IMSA classes took to the track at the picturesque WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

GTP
Louis Delétraz led a Cadillac 1–2, putting the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing entry on overall pole. Jack Aitken slotted into a familiar position in second, where the No. 31 has finished in every race this season.
Laguna Seca has traditionally been a Porsche stronghold, but after qualifying, they find themselves buried in the field. The Porsche Penske No. 6 and No. 7 entries will start 8th and 9th, respectively.
One of the bigger stories is the progress from the Heart of Racing No. 23 Valkyrie. Compared to last year, when the car was consistently over a second off the pace—qualifying 6th and just seven-tenths off pole marks a significant step forward.

Jack Hawksworth powered his Lexus RC F GT3 to pole position by over two-tenths of a second. It’s a major result for Vasser Sullivan Racing, a team that has historically struggled at Laguna Seca but appears to have found its footing this weekend.
The Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 will join them on the front row. Meanwhile, fan-favorite AO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, running as “Sketchy” this weekend and the defending Laguna Seca winner, will start 4th.

The reigning winner, Winward Racing’s No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3, will start 4th. Meanwhile, the struggles continue for the two Corvettes in class, qualifying 12th and 13th.
