NASCAR Roars into the Desert at Phoenix Raceway

Week 4 of the NASCAR season is here as the field arrives in Phoenix. Tyler Reddick is riding the hot hand and will try to become the first driver to win four races in a row since Jimmie Johnson accomplished the feat in 2007. It won’t come easy, however, as Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing are traditionally strong at the one-mile desert oval. Ryan Blaney won the most recent race at this venue and will look to repeat his success.

Several strong drivers are also looking for a solid day after falling deep in the points standings. The Joe Gibbs Racing trio of Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Chase Briscoe currently sit 23rd, 24th, and 27th in points. The good news for that group is that all three are previous winners at Phoenix Raceway.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet, will not compete this weekend due to vertigo symptoms. Anthony Alfredo will step in as the substitute driver. This comes after Bowman was unable to complete the full race distance last weekend after feeling ill.

Quick Driver Next Gen Phoenix Trends

Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney has been the dominant driver here, leading the series in average finish (5.8) and laps led, along with achieving his maiden championship here in 2023. His Penske teammate, Joey Logano, comes in with 2 wins in this Gen 7 Cup car. Don’t be surprised if they are battling it out for the win come Sunday
