Round 4 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship heads west as the paddock arrives at Laguna Seca, Home of the Famous Corkscrew.

The Competition Classes for the Weekend

GTP GTD PRO GTD

GTP Class

Porsche Penske Motorsport is aiming for its third consecutive win at this event. The #7 and #6 entries currently sit 1st and 3rd in the championship standings, with the #31 Cadillac Whelen splitting them in 2nd. Cadillac will be looking to secure its first win of the season this weekend.

BMW, meanwhile, hopes to turn its season around after a difficult start. There is some optimism, however, as both cars finished 3rd and 4th here last year.

GTD PRO

Fan favorites AO Racing are chasing their first win of the season as they sit 4th in the standings. They come into the weekend with strong momentum at Laguna Seca, having won the last two races here. The team has also unveiled a new livery; “Sketchy,” the fifth member of their dinosaur-themed lineup, will debut this weekend.

The #1 Paul Miller Racing BMW enters the round leading the GTD PRO standings, but they are still searching for their first top-five finish at Laguna Seca since 2021.

GTD

So far, the GTD class has been dominated by Aston Martin, with the #27 Heart of Racing team maintaining the championship lead despite a tough outing at Long Beach.

The #81 DragonSpeed team will be aiming for a strong performance this weekend. They finished P2 last year after starting on pole. Since then, they’ve switched manufacturers to Chevrolet and will be hoping for similar success as they currently sit 15th in the standings.

Throughout the weekend, the Mustang Challenge, Michelin Pilot Challenge, and Lamborghini Super Trofeo series will race alongside IMSA.
